Dnscrypt-proxy

Post by bouwew »

Please add the package Dnscrypt-proxy to Gargoyle.

Adds a little more security: encrypts DNS traffic. For more info, please see: https://www.opendns.com/about/innovations/dnscrypt/

I would like it to be included in the packages so that it can be used not only for ar71xx-type routers.

Well, obviously you have to change the URL to point to the BB packages instead:

Code: Select all

http://exopenwrt.and.in.net/barrier_breaker/ar71xx/packages/exOpenWrt
(with src/gz exopenwrt in front)

Although it didn't work for me either in Ispy's updated build from Jan. 9th. I think it did work with the initial 1.7 build, but then that one bricked itself upon a reboot after enabling TOR. I haven't tried a more recent build yet.

I experimented a little bit by adding Dnscrypt-proxy in my WDR4900-build. I can get it to run, but I noticed that the Gargoyle web-frontend is interfering with the setup of Dnscrypt-proxy. The settings from standard guides doesn't work for Gargoyle. This can only work by integrating the Dnscrypt-proxy settings into the Gargoyle web-frontend. At the moment that is too complex for me to achieve. As a newbie I need to study the Gargoyle code for some time...
