Point-to-Point Bridge setup with Gargoyle

Post by Vaako »

Hi,

I like to do an suggestion to add a new feature to Gargoyle that is called Point-to-Point Bridge setup.

You see this mode only on more expensive Access Point's.

This is mainly used for: Backhaul / wisp / extend network / Etc...

Here is what i want to do with it:

Modem/wan <--> Main Router/AP <-- Network home --> AP-Bridge <-----point-to-Point-----> AP-Bridge <--> 8-port switch <--> Network

I do NOT want to use WDS for this kind of setup!

In the past I have to use two WAP54G AP's for such setup but now I like to do this with wireless-N AP or Wireless Router.
The antenna's have to be Dual-Polarization to achive 150 / 300mb/s connection but also with only one antenna the speed wil be higher than wireless-G !!!!
Regards,
Vaako

Read up on that and also submit this request on the OpenWRT forums.

It has to be supported by OpenWRT before it will be supported
in Gargoyle - remember Gargoyle's base is OpenWRT.

Looks like best place would be Howtos and Documentation forum

Probably best place to see if its currently possible
with just OpenWRT by itself, and if it is, should be
configurable via the command line with Gargoyle installed.

DoesItMatter: No... that forum is for people who create howtos/documentation. It's equivalent to our new "Show/Tell/Contribute" forum

Most questions over there should go in their "General Discussion" forum.

Ahh ok, I thought it was also a Howto Do this type deal.

They need to do some organization on that forum!
