Mac Filter Policy change without losing MAC List

Post by nerdjuice »

Many smart devices no longer provide a MAC address on the unit. Because of this the only way for me to determine the MAC is to allow the unit to connect and then getting the mac off of the DHCP host list.

Because I have my wifi locked to MAC, when I temporarily change the Wireless MAC filter from Enabled to Disabled it clears my MAC list. I have a list of 20+ devices then I need to reenter along with the newly discovered one.

Is it possible to keep this list but just disable the filtering?

Even if this feature cannot be enabled in next firmware, can you tell me how I might be able to do this via SSH?

Maybe I can change a config that will disable mac filter without clearing the list?

Or maybe I can backup the config file and restore?

Thank you for your help!

You can rename the section in /etc/config/wireless
