You can use the opendns way.

simply create a free account and then block whatever you like by using their DNS servers.

I am trying to block youtube, both http and https. I tried opendns and could not get that to work. I was able to block it by blocking google, 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. However, I could not access playstore on my phones, so that did not work. Then, I was able to block ip addresses:

208.65.153.238
208.65.153.251
208.65.153.253
208.117.236.69

That still did not prevent https. However, I tried blocking some ranges:

199.223.232.0 - 199.223.239.255
207.223.160.0 - 207.223.175.255
208.65.152.0 - 208.65.155.255
208.117.224.0 - 208.117.255.255
209.85.128.0 - 209.85.255.255
216.58.192.0 - 216.58.223.255
216.239.32.0 - 216.239.63.255

However, for all of these, I can only enter in gargoyle management:

199.223.232.0 - 199.223.239.25
207.223.160.0 - 207.223.175.25
208.65.152.0 - 208.65.155.25
208.117.224.0 - 208.117.255.25
209.85.128.0 - 209.85.255.25
216.58.192.0 - 216.58.223.25
216.239.32.0 - 216.239.63.25

I am not sure why I cannot finish the ip range. It turns red and will not enter.

Thank you to anyone who can help. Just a note, even though I cannot get to 255, this has been successful!

based on reports people have had limited success with blocking web sites with gargoyle.

The conclusion I have come to is "https" and other encryption systems make them hard to block.

I ended up using bitdefender and that was rock solid

I believe that will only work per computer - I think it is software installed on each machine. I am looking to block everything connected to my network, such as roku, phones, etc.

So far, this has worked to block Android phones, computers, and even the android youtube app. It did not block ios youtube app, but did block safari on the iphone. Is it those higher ip addresses?

I have removed your duplicate posts. There is no need to have 3 separate threads with the exact same content. .

You can't enter 255 because there are no IP addresses ending in "255". Each octet has 255 combinations, however it begins at zero so the maximum is "254".
