Cannot get over 100Mbps total bandwidth

Post by Wicked »

Can't seem to find an answer for my question. Anyhow, checking my total bandwidth using speedtest with gargoyle firmware I cannot get over 100Mbps. Using the stock firmware I would achieve 300Mbps.

Is this a limitation using Gargoyle or can I edit the config file to allow more bandwidth for my network?

Using a TL-WDR3600 router with Gargoyle 1.8.1 Stable.

Its a known problem.

Need more CPU power

I think these routers may get close to what you require

https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/linksys/wrt1x00ac_series

But they come at a price

How close exactly?

Also how is the reliability of this modem with Gargoyle flashed onto it? I was looking at the netgear nighthawk ac1900 and it received great ratings. The linksys were somewhat scattered, but those of course are running stock firmware. Just super fed up with these buggy routers that have zero reliability with their junk firmware.

There is a post somewhere

They claimed they were getting above 500 Mbps from memory

I don't have that router or that internet speed so I can't say anymore

Can you provide a link for this post? The fastest speeds I can achieve are 200Mbps. The average is 150Mbps. I've tired openwrt, gargoyle, ddwrt all get an average of 150Mbps.

That post about the 500 Mbps probably was mine. I was able to get 500+ Mbps with QOS on using a WRT1900ACv2. This was with the WAN side being a computer on a gigabit connection, and also using my works gigabit fibre connection with speedtest.net servers 1-2 ms away.

However, I've just today got switched to internet 150 from my cable company. Tests at a solid 176 Mbps. However, turning on download QOS with no rules and only 1 class drops throughput to just under 100 Mbps.
