Bug report: Ineffective Access Restrictions in Gargoyle 1.10.X

Post by rootkea »

Hello!

I am using

Code: Select all

Gargoyle Version:1.10.X (Built 20180430-1934 git@ab16f958)
Model:TP-Link TL-WR841N/ND v11
I was toying with the Access Restrictions settings and so added a simple rule as shown in the attached screenshot.

As you can see, the rule simply says "except for 192.168.1.44 block all network access for all the hosts". But I can perfectly browse the Internet from another host connected to the same router.

Am I missing something?

PS - I tried using MAC instead of IP address but it didn't work either.

need to see screen shot
Oops! I remember attaching the screenshot. Not sure where did it go?

Is there a size limit or filetype restriction on attachments? Also PhpBB asked me to remove imgur link the last time I tried adding it. Not sure how to share the screenshot. :(

If you can provide the screenshot externally and link here (obfuscate the link a little) I’ll look into it.

Your posting restrictions as a new user will be lifted soon.

I guess they just did!

Anyways, here is the Access Restrictions rule screenshot:

To repeat myself, as you can see, the rule simply says "except for 192.168.1.44 block all network access for all the hosts". But I can perfectly browse the Internet from another host connected to the same router.

Just to confirm, what kind of Connection Basic setting are you using?
It strikes me as odd that your router is on 192.168.1.43.

I also think that some of these restrictions don’t work well under Repeater/bridge mode.
But I’ll double check.

I have configured the router as a Gateway device (default) and wireless mode is AP.
your router is on 192.168.1.43
Oh yes. I have made that change from 1.1

BTW I have an active Guest network and could browse the Internet on the guest network as well as primary AP network while Access Restriction rule was in effect.

It worked fine in my testing.

How is your Gargoyle connected to the upstream internet connection? Is it DHCP Wired? If so, to which physical ports is the connection made? What subnet is the WAN connection?

That's strange. I can't pinpoint why isn't working on my end.

It's connected via PPPoE (wired) with it's default settings.
