Can't access WIFI modem under gateway wireless mode.

Post by northon »

When i connect to local wifi network, why i can't access the adsl wifi modem? The only thing to access wifi modem is connecting directly to his wlan, or connecting with the provider's public IP:port, that change everytimes then it connect to internet.

I have a TPLINK TL-WR941N/ND v4 with 1.8.1 Gargoyle, and it is connected to a adsl WIFI modem via Gateway mode, and WAN is in Wireless DHCP mode.
The TPLINK is in 192.168.0.1 in lan, subnet 255.255.0.0, and the adsl modem is in 192.168.1.1, and the gargoyle receive the ip 192.168.1.4.

I've tried one thing. Changed the DHCP Wireless mode to DHCP with a cable, then GOTCHA, i can access the 192.168.1.1!!!

So, the thing is, how do i can connect to adsl modem, inside the lan?

Thanks!

You need to setup a static route to the modem.

Please be respectful when posting. I do this in my free time on a volunteer basis.

Don't know the answer so didn't reply

What did you try?

also from memory somebody else said something about subnets masks other that 255.255.255.0 not working

I see your using 255.255.0.0?

Why?

if it does work you shouldn't be able to access your isp router as the gargoyle router will think any address starting 192.168 is local and wont send the request out to the WAN port. I think you just need to add a static route starting 192.168.1.0 with subnet 255.255.255.0 on the WAN port and change your LAN subnet to 255.255.255.0
