wndr3700v2 cant max 100mbit @wan

Post by Phil1978 »

Hi,

Im quite satisfied with Gargoyle on the wndr3700v2, until i changed my bandwith to 250mbit down. Directly connected to my providers modem i get the speed, but on the wndr its capped to about 100mbit. The router shows all ports as Gbit.

I cant even find the max wan speed of this device via Google... maybe im just blind. Would be happy if anyone has a clue. Maybe i just need a new router, but i thought a Gbit router should be capable of doing 250mbit.

Thanks!

Edit: ok just found another thread with the same problem but no solution yet. Gonna try to revert to stock fw, and will report back here for, in case anyone cares.

Any tipps regarding a new router, that is capable of at least 250mbit on the wan side?

Maybe it is too slow to handle this much data speed. Maybe 680mhz cpu is not enough for 250mbps.

But then the term Gbit Router confuses me... shouldnt it then be at least able to do more then 100Mbit? Im not sure if theres much more load on a wan port then on a lan port.

Can you help someone else get Gargoyle up and running?

Yes i was thinking about hardware nat vs software nat. So maybe thats an issue.

HARDWARE NAT - 1000mbps
SOFTWARE NAT - i dont know, maybe max 200mbps

If u want 3rd party firmware, thats the price to pay. Maybe someday they will figure it out how to use hardware nat on 3rd party fw.

Try the speed on stock firmware and report here. Should be full speed on stock.

Ok now it makes all sense, thanks guys. The speed is not worth the original firmware, id rather get a second Gbit router for the faster downloads.

According to this site : http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/tools/charts/router/view

The wndr3700v2 is capable WAN2LAN at max 430 mbps. So even with stock firmware thats the max throughput even with Gbit ports.
