1.9.x Wireless Bridge/Repeater

Post by ispyisail »

Hi all

I'm confirming that 1.9.x Wireless Bridge/Repeater appears to fail.

-Tablet fails to obtain an IP address from "admin"
-PC fails to obtain IP address from DHCP server
-When PC has a fixed IP address connection to router works but internet connection does not

I couldn't get 1.8.1 working on a 1043ND v2 either. It initially seemed to work then died quickly. Clients could not DHCP nor could ping anywhere. Even could not reach the Gargoyle webui.

Had to set as Gateway with Internet/Wan via wireless link instead.

Will try. Bridge is a disaster in 1.8.1 and 1.9 on a 1043NDv2.

* strangely (when it was stable) only non-Windows devices could successfully get and retain from DHCP (wireless clients). I tried 3 diff laptops (win7, win.81, win10) and all would not hold network settings. If I manually set, it would still not connect anywhere.

Is there an easier way to retrieve those development versions instead of a torrent with all firmwares zipped up (340 MB).

Can't upload the torrent as a collection of files instead of one archive?

1.9.X (Built 20160103-1917 git@5b7c763)

Model:TP-Link TL-WR1043N/ND v2

Still fails in wireless bridge-repeater.

Works for a few minutes ..sometimes slow to access the router...then eventually clients lose network access completely.

Also, plugins..could not install LOG READ...click install but after some whirrring...still not installed.

EDIT: it installed after a reboot. Also back in Gateway wireless..works fine as before (just not bridge)

Hi Tapper,

The Gargoyled bridge unit is a 1043ND v2, connected to an ENGENIUS ESR1221N2 300mbps wireless router(factory firmware) set to B+G+N mode.

1043NDv2 Tested under 1.8.1, 1.9 and 1.9.X (Built 20160103-1917 git@5b7c763)

I don't see whether you have repeater enabled (like me) in your bridges, as I do?

Gateway mode (wireless DHCP) works great though. It just means a separate subnet. (edit: which is inconvenient for file sharing and such).

Anyone got a screenshot of a working Wireless Bridge/Repeater setup?

I never get DHCP and even if I manually set the client, there is still no access to the gateway (via cabled client or wireless client).

The bridge is still accessible from the gateway side.
