Gargoyle throttles bandwidth - even when I don't want it to

Post by dcustard »

Hi,

I installed Gargoyle 1.6 on my TP-Link WDR3600. Works great.... BUT

I have a 250Mbps download connection. With Gargoyle installed, speedtest.net reports around 100Mbps down. Going back to the stock TP-Link firmware, I get around 300Bps.

What have I done wrong? Is there a Gargoyle setting to remove the bandwidth throttling? I will stay with the stock firmware for now.

Hi 256 Mbps is a verry fast line openwrt witch Gargoyle is baste on can not use hardware nat it has to do it in software. some chat about it here https://dev.openwrt.org/ticket/11779
on the wiki it says "some Switches contain a functionality called "Hardware NAT"; support for this features has not yet been included into OpenWrt. Since the CPU s used in CPE Routers are relatively slow, expect 2 to 4 times performance gain if you were to use Hardware NAT, e.g. without hardware NAT some router
could achieve 400Mbit/s at full CPU load, with hardware NAT it could achieve 900Mbit/s at full CPU load. OpenWrt developer is supposed to have said, that
implementing HW-NAT support would be unacceptably hacky to accomplish."

Hi, thanks for the info. My download speed is very fast, but of course I pay an arm and a leg for it. Sometimes it exceed 350Mbps. I guess Gargoyle won't do it for me - shame, 'cos the functionality is just perfect. Oh well.
