TP-Link [AP&WDS] + Linksys [WDS] = Odd behavior

Post by raz »

Main router: TP-Link TL-WR1043ND (Gargoyle 1.5.5)
Second router: Linksys WRT54G (Gargoyle 1.4.7)
Security: None

I'm trying to get the second router to redistribute the main router's signal.

The second connects fine to the main, but all the clients seem to default to the main, even if they are physically right besides the second and far from the main.

Is this normal?

EDIT: Using inSSIDer, I only see the main's signal, not the second's. Odd.

EDIT2: Just read this from Eric from a previous post: "Do be aware that WDS doesn't work between two different types of hardware." --- Ffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu! :|

EDIT3: Some googling shows that brcm47xx (Kernel 2.6) might make Broadcom and Atheros based routers work together in WDS! :o -- ... which is already part of Gargoyle since 1.3.10, hmm.
