IPv6 1.13.0

Post by ispyisail »

Hi all

Because 1.13.0 has IPv6, its my first experience with it.

At work we use network printer software with a license server. The software is a few years old now (2016) and IPv6 confused it.

In the end I disabled IPv6 and the problems went away. I could probably disable IPv6 on the problem devices but I'm yet to find a reason to use IPv6 (yet) :)

Anyway just reporting

Just for interest apart from the IP address running out is there any useful feature that IPv6 can do that IPv4 can't?

No NAT traversal, so each device receives a globally routable IP address.
Sometimes that’s good, and sometimes that is bad depending on what you want to use it for.
Auto configuration of downstream routers is good too.

Also I still haven’t had any time to do router stuff. I’ve been working on changing the clutch in my car and now this east coast low has caused several leaks in my property.
When it rains it pours :(
