DDNS

Post by Rog66 »

Are one/some of the ddns providers still not working? I’m guessing when I applied the last ispyail update it overwrote the hosts file fix? I can’t connect to my vpn at the moment and when I check the dns record is currently in the 10.x.x.x range. It was working earlier so seems to be a ddns provider issue.

In the penultimate (last) build from @ispyisail (viewtopic.php?f=14&t=12065), the DDNS bug has been fixed (due to a bad checkmyip.com domain), so you can delete the fix in the hosts file.

Aruljohn.com has returned addresses in 10.x.x.x range at least twice in the last 12hours. If I go to the website it gives the correct IP address. Can we modify the script that rejects any address update with a local ip range as from memory that was the problem before as well?

Aruljohn.com shows me correctly. Then you would have to use VPN as a gateway to the Internet and here it can happen. Otherwise, I don't know.

No definitely a problem with this website. It’s done it twice overnight in the logs and only ever with this website. All other updates have been fine.

Can anyone with ddns check their syslog to see if they are seeing the same?

Yes it also gives me bad results.
I've asked the website owner to comment on whether this is a bug or an intentional deterrent.

Will take action in the following weeks either way.
