Problem after update 1.8->1.10 WDS systems

Post by Djago »

Hi!

I have a TP-Link TL-WR841N v8 (connected to Internet, set up as a Gateway and AP+WDS) and a TP-Link TL-WR841N v5 configured as WDS repeater.
It was working ok with 1.8. I've updated to 1.10 (clean) and reconfigured as was earlier. Now the repeater gets disconnected. I don't know how to troubleshoot it because there's no error message in the GUI.
What can I do?

Regards,
FSO

Can you please post both configs here to check?

Can you point me a tutorial how to grab them? I'm not a newbie but didn't find a simple way, except screenshots.

Make sure you follow these instructions when setting up a wireless bridge/repeater on Gargoyle >1.9.2. Bridge IP required config setting has changed.

But I'm using WDS!

Just some screenshots would be fine as long as they capture everything.
Then upload them elsewhere and link here

Master:

Repeater:

This is my config right now. It's the same config that I had on 1.8.0.

Another thing I've noticed is that sometimes if I restart the repeater when it's not connected, it won't connect to the SSID of the master. But If I hit on Scan and select the same SSID, it reconnects.

I understand that between your old version 1.8 and 1.9.2.x there is a fundamental config change requiring your Bridge/Repeater to be on a different subnet (even with WDS...).

I don't think this is the case for WDS. I'm checking it out

I've tried in Client Bridge instead of WDS but it didn't work.
Strange thing is that Windows said I was connected, but I couldn't get to the Internet, only could go to the master IP.
So I've reseted the configuration and started again, and now it's working, but in Client Bridge mode.
Now I don't know how can I get to the config page of the repeater to set it as WDS. Do I have to "clean reset" it?
