Re: Found a way to break QOS?

You're a genius! I didnt know there was a "dsl mode" in this software? Any particular reason that it isn't exposed as a switch? Yes, yes I am :-) A switch might be a good addition to the interface. It used to be that it was easy to automatically detect so it was not there in the beginning...

Re: Found a way to break QOS?

You say that you have a DSL link but according to this Wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asymmetric_digital_subscriber_line DSL cannot achieve 30Mbit download. So that is a confusion point and setting your QoS download speed above 24Mbit may itself break QoS. Your QoS router needs to be the slowest...

Re: Found a way to break QOS?

Effective BW from ISP is 27mbps down, 1800mbps up This statements means that the upload bandwidth on the QoS page should be set to not more than 0.95*1800=1700kbps. You should start working with 1300kbps. This mistake alone will break your upload QoS. I agree with Daeron that setting your download ...

Re: Found a way to break QOS?

Saturated means you are at the fair link limit computed by ACC (or manually set). So its not that ACC is active but rather that the the load is near the limit. This is independently true on the uplink and the down link. With 30Mbit down and 1.6Mbit up your link is highly asymmetric. Is this a DSL li...

Re: Found a way to break QOS?

My understanding from your last post is that you are not actually in saturation. Your graphs never reach and stay in the limit. Lower the bandwidth to 5,000 to try and get into saturation and stay there. The graphs should have a flat top. Unless we are in saturation QoS is not doing anything at all ...

Re: Found a way to break QOS?

QoS depends on the Gargoyle router being the bandwidth limiter in any network. Make sure this is the case. UDP should not break QoS. The router will discard them if needed to enforce its rules on the upload side. Any use of UDP on the download side from the internet implies that sender of the packet...

Re: Found a way to break QOS?

I see that you have rules for "salchstr". I do not see any rules for "salch" so how is it that you conclude that "salch" is only using TCP? My advice to you is to simplify your QoS to the bare minimum you need. Especially do not use "salch" as your default cla...

Re: 1.11.0 slowdown requiring reboot

The link load should not be over the link limit. The only thing I can think of that could cause this is that your CPU is saturated. Please post a screen shot of the status page. Also what other things are running on your router such as VPN, Tor, USB Flash drive. All these things can take CPU time. F...

Re: 1.11.0 slowdown requiring reboot

ACC will only drop the link speed if the ping times go high. It will also not recover the link if the ping times remain high. You can verify the pings are high from your computer by pinging the same target. ACC's range is 8:1 so it should never drop below 5625 with a 45000 setting on download. Pleas...

Re: My QoS rules for gaming, browsing/streaming, torrents and bufferbloat

Your link is not very fast so pretty much any router will be able to keep up regardless of how many rules you have. Thanks for sharing your results so far. Will be interested to see if you can document any improvement over the default rule setup. Problems with gaming led me to get involved in Gargoy...
