Re: High end install - good hardware

What about the TP-Link Archer C9? I find it pretty shocking that an Archer C7 can only do around 50mbps with QOS and bandwidth control enabled.

Re: Constant Wi-Fi Dropouts TL-WR1043ND v2.1

What happens when you swap routers (location)? Interesting to see if its an environment thing. I'd love to do that... but my second 1043ND is in a tricky position right now. I could try to make an effort tonight. Also worth noting is that I just replaced the TL-WR1043ND with a TL-WR841N on stock fi...

Re: Versions 1.9.0 & 1.8.1

4mb is too small as of 1.9.0. It causes massive instability. There have been sone suggestions to fix this, but it guts the firmware quite a bit. Oh, good to know. I'll try to avoid routers with 4mb of flash from now on, and just use the 841n as basic APs with stock firmware. I'll try to get the TL-...

Unable to hard reset TP-Link TL-WDR4300

Hey guys, I'm having a bad time with routers right now :( this all started when I was trying out some of the OpenVPN features on Gargoyle 1.9.0. I couldn't get access to the LAN so I tried changing the encryption method... and that's where it all stopped working. After saving config and rebooting, t...

Constant Wi-Fi Dropouts TL-WR1043ND v2.1

Hey guys, I've got a situation which is driving me absolutely bonkers. I have two brand new (I keep a spare) TP-Link TL-WR1043ND v2.1's which I have tried on both Gargoyle 1.8.1 and 1.9.0 and come up with the exact same issues. I currently have a TP-Link TD-8810 bridged via PPPoE to the WAN port of ...

Re: Versions 1.9.0 & 1.8.1

I know the TP-Link TL-WR841N v10 comes in a chinese version which indeed has a woeful 1mb of flash, but the international version has 4mb of flash, like previous versions. Info here: https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr841nd As for the TP-Link TL-WR1043ND, thanks, I'll take a look in the forum...

Re: Versions 1.9.0 & 1.8.1

Any news on the next version? I have some new hardware that I'd like to run a stable version of Gargoyle on (TP-Link WR-841ND v10 and TP-Link WR1043ND V3) that are waiting on the next version.

Re: gargoyle-ispy 2016-January-25 18:46.torrent

I'll try a failsafe when I get some time - I replaced it with my Archer C7 anyway (on stock firmware, grudgingly). You should really put a notice in the first post that this bricks the 1043ND V1. I shouldn't have to learn this the hard way, hell there's probably someone bricking their router right n...

Re: gargoyle-ispy 2016-January-25 18:46.torrent

Yep, had to roll back to stock firmware. I'll see if I can pawn it off and get myself a V2.

In other news, I tried to upgrade my old TP-Link TL-WR1043ND V1 with this firmware (guest network was broken on the official firmware) and it has bricked it. Great. :x

Re: gargoyle-ispy 2016-January-25 18:46.torrent

Perhaps a silly question - but is Wi-Fi AC or 5Ghz working on the TP-Link Archer C7 v1? I unfortunately bought one used without realising that this is supposed to be a limitation... Edit: Just tested it out. UI is a total mess and won't let me select anything greater than 802.11g. Gonna have to give...
