Re: Can I lower the ping spikes?
In my view you should turn off qos and do some test pinging on a quiet network to your is, to the Google dns etc. If they are not stable you may have an issue or line fault issue

Re: Can I lower the ping spikes?
Also it would be useful to understand where you are pinging to. If it's across the world then a 300 ping would be fine. Also pinging from your machine to the provider and from the router (not got mine in front of me but I think this is possible) to the provider to get an understanding of the latency...

Re: I need suggestions to buy a new router
Thanks James, well the C7 is incoming, not sure if it will be a v1 or v2 but reading about it both should be ok. I think it is a step up from the 3700 but i'll be able to post in here on my experiences. Still debating whether I put gargoyle on it or run it with the tplink firmware. The likelihood is...

Re: I need suggestions to buy a new router
Hi I currently have a netgear 3700 which is OK but I feel it's WiFi performance could be better. Range is OK but my pc which the signal has to go through a couple of brick walls has spikes of very poor throughput. My question on the back of this thread. Is the c7 much better than the wdr 3600 for 2....

Re: Blocking UDP and IP Ports
Sorry I should be clearer, I'm trying to block specific udp and tcp ports, so the network will work but I can then block some applications (steam etc)

Blocking UDP and IP Ports
Hi
With Gargoyle is possible to block UDP and TCP ports. I can't seem to find an option in the settings and blocking ports doesn't say whether the port is UDP or TCP?

Re: Best Router for Gargoyle
Looking at those two routers they don''t seem that dissimilar to the 3700 - my gut feel is you wouldn't see that much difference between any of these 3 unfortunately for wireless
