Why gamble when you have a more reliable option that turns out to be better? :)

Re: Guest ssid

would love to see this added in the GUI.

Multi-SSID is becoming an extremely important feature advertised by manufacturers and actually desired by consumers. The lack of this feature (in the GUI) will stop a lot of people from trying Gargoyle.

Re: Installing Gargoyle on DIR-825 when WRT already installe

dir825 c1 is not yet supported by gargoyle. you could try regular openwrt trunk (barrier breaker)builds, which do support this router.

Re: 2.4 & 5 Ghz wireless settings, no 300Mbps

Hi drawz, I changed my channel to channel 1 on the 2.4 ghz, rebooted the router and it still showing a maximum speed of 133 mpbs. But the 5 ghz is showing as 300 mbps. At Gargoyle version 1.58, I was able to have both 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz at 300 mbps each. My router is a Netgear WNDR3700v1 with the la...

Re: Difficulty buying a router. No really...

Most routers have some sort of recovery/failsafe mode. In fact, I'm not aware of any that don't.

Those newer TP-Link models may not be mentioned because 1.5.x is considered "experimental" even though it is pretty darn stable.

The WNDR3800 is a great choice. Enjoy it!

Re: Difficulty buying a router. No really...

Not sure about them no longer being made. They are all over ebay selling as 'new'. This is the one router mentioned that seems to be readily available, at what seems to be the right version. Though a lot of the sales mention 'Premium edition', so I hope that isn't a new version in any way. I'm thin...

Re: Difficulty buying a router. No really...

Just read the list at Openwrt http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/start If you can use it on Openwrt, you can use it on Gargoyle ;) That's not entirely true. Gargoyle only supports routers that are supported in Attitude Adjustment 12.09RC1. There are many additional routers supported in Barrier Breaker (tr...

Re: 2.4 & 5 Ghz wireless settings, no 300Mbps

Make sure 40 MHz is enabled. Use channel 1, 6, or 11 on 2.4 GHz, depending which is most clear. Due to 802.11n good neighbor policy, you may not be able to use 40 MHz of bandwidth if the band/channel is crowded.

Re: Speed of Gargoyle versions

My first question would be whether this is an apples to apples comparison - in other words, are all the measurements on a wired connection?

I notice no such slow down on OpenWrt trunk.
