Re: Dns lookup spikes cpu usage

Ok, I narrowed it down with a bug... for some reason my download and upload qos config page was glitching up and not saving Layer7 based rules. So, I reflashed and recreated basic rules. No skipping. As soon as I added the layer 7 rules (at the bottom), like bittorrent, edonkey, voip, etc... it star...

Re: Version 1.5.2 & 1.4.5

I am using dynamic downstream QOS Gargoyle? What happens when you turn this off? Youve got a default QOS which not controlled by Dynamic QOS I mean the qos that can change downstream speeds, (qosmon). "active congestions control (Download Direction)" I disabled it, no problems, then I re ...

Re: Version 1.5.2 & 1.4.5

I don't know if there's help for this but I have an issue that happens only with gargoyle, not openwrt. I am running a Buffalo G300NH with everything stock, except for htop and nano installed through opkg. I have a line that has 25/25mbit service. Verizon FIOS has video on demand, as I see in connec...

Re: Dns lookup spikes cpu usage

??? It has nothing to do with usb or memory. I have 13 in use and 64 total.
I don't use any extra applications. I even have bwmon disabled!

Dns lookup spikes cpu usage

Hi, I've noticed that when running fios Video on Demand (which goes through UDP IP, the router) even with no load at all (HD takes 16mbit, I have a 30 mbit line), there are random skips on VOD when loading a page with a new address. I have observed this and checked with htop, and I see that cpu usag...

Re: Qos exempt class

Thanks a lot for this! I set the whole subnet for the traffic I see for VOD in the connection list with this rule and it even fixed another issue I had. As Video on demand is udp, it would stutter for some reason- even if traffic is low, just on a new dns lookup (like opening up a website address or...

Re: How to change ping time limit in the qos setting?

I think the stock time is a bit too high especially if people do online gaming. Plus the ping is to the first hop, so it should be low, below 10 ms anyway. 45 is a good number for me.

Edit: oops, it was already explained how to change qos script

Re: Qos exempt class

You have a good idea that may help many. I have the same issue with Verizon FIOS. The Video on Demand IPTV service uses the internet, but it is not counted towards the speed limit. For example, I have a 30mbit line, but when I run 2 HD videos on the cable boxes, they each take around 15mbits and sho...

Sorry for the bump, but anyone have an idea where to start?
