Re: Netgear R8000

I'd seen some bcm53xx activity in OpenWrt master before the 23.05 branch so thought there may have been some hope of improvement - clearly not :(

Re: Netgear R8000

The most recent one: openwrt-22.03.5-bcm53xx-generic-netgear_r8000-squashfs.chk If you haven't already put it back to the OEM firmware, you might consider trying the 23.05 snapshot (i.e. pre-release of 23.05, should include LuCI unlike master snapshots) from https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/2...

Re: Netgear R8000

That's disappointing :(

Out of curiousity, which OpenWrt versions did you try that showed the same problems?

Re: Netgear R8000

Go through the device definitions in the OpenWrt target directory and make sure that all default and device packages have been included in the config with =y. In particular, default packages sometimes don't seem to get included in images unless they're set =y in the config.

Re: Netgear R8000

A serial console would appear to be advisable for recovery of this device.

Note that using make custom will drop you into make menuconfig - don't forget to save your config file when exiting this step.

Archer C59 EU model with 16 MB of Flash Memory and 128 MB of RAM.
There are two versions of this device supported: v1 and v2.
Which is yours?

Re: Experimental Gargoyle 1.15.x beta 20230124

Just had a look at the OpenWrt AGH package docs and it looks impractical to install in most devices - of the targets now supported in Gargoyle, really only the bcm27xx (Raspberry Pi) and x86 targets would have sufficient RAM and storage; possibly the Rockchip and Mediatek targets too.

Re: Experimental Gargoyle 1.15.x beta 20230124

Is there Archer C5 V2 support? no? do i have to throw it away in a trash can? :D This is a Broadcom chipset device with a single core ARM CPU. OpenWrt has support for it in the bcm53xx target but the 2.4GHz radio is only partly functional and the 5GHz radio isn't functional at all. You could build ...

Re: Experimental Gargoyle 1.15.x beta 20230124

notice that there is only 84KB free whereas Feb 1.15.x left me with 212KB to install a few plugins. Sadly more flash space got taken up by solving problems like the LEDs and it seems likely to get squeezed a bit more before the final release :(. You should still be able to configure extroot to a US...

Re: Sharing error

fsck?

BTW: is this machine on a UPS? do the problems follow power disturbances/outages?
