Those two ports are https and http; deprioritizing them will cause your web browsing to be slow.

I think QOS still functions ok without it
This is good to know for those of us who never use graphs.

Re: New DNS Service: Quad9

It looks to be pretty poor performing for me. They must not have a server near you or their anycast isn't working right. They claim they have 70 locations online and will have over 160 in 2018. I like that it's run by a non-profit and that they won't sell your browsing data to marketers. I switched...

Re: Default QoS Rules Contest

I upgraded to 1.10.0 and did further testing. What happens if you don't do a BufferBloat rule and simply leave no rules? In general it works fine since Gargoyle equally splits bandwidth, but if you maximize upload on the SAME device (say you're sending a big file or doing a phone/photos back up), th...

Re: Default QoS Rules Contest

Some interesting ideas but nothing for the upload rules? The small packet ideas seem to me to be most appropriately handled on the upload side since that is where these are. My sense is that people who are having problems with "bufferbloat" metrics or slow web page loads under heavy load ...

Re: Default QoS Rules Contest

I do have an additional QoS rule option for those that care about improving bufferbloat (lag that occurs when your bandwidth is saturated). When tested on DSLReports' speed test, this gets you an A/A+. https://www.dslreports.com/speedtest https://www.bufferbloat.net/projects/bloat/wiki/What_can_I_do...

Re: Default QoS Rules Contest

@Volaris: How does the simple QoS rules approach work in environments where there is a highly dynamic number of users, and the connection usually highly overloaded? Our typical use case is, e.g., a camp in a remote location with a .25x1mbps connection, where there can be anywhere between 1 to 6 use...

Re: Default QoS Rules Contest

Thanks! I'll give an explanation as to why I use such a simple QoS setup. Since Gargoyle automatically splits available bandwidth equally, nobody ever gets more than their fair share. I'll explain: if you have a 10 Mbps connection and there are four active users maxing out their connection, each one...

Re: QOS with an Extender

I sometimes see in the bandwidth distribution table, all the clients dividing the bandwidth equally. However, more times than that I see unequal distribution. Maybe someone will be using 65%, another may be using 5%, and two others using 15% each. Is this normal? Could be, depending on the web acti...

Re: No Internet on Range Extender or connnected clients

Oh... now that I remember, I think I also initially had a problem with "Enforce DHCP Assignments" on Gargoyle and had to turn it off for the repeater to work. Has worked great since then. Sorry had been a really long time.
