Re: Version 1.9.1

Lantis, I also did a sysupgrade and a Linksys WRT160NL from 1.9.0 to 1.9.1, using 'preserve settings'. The update was succeeded, but afterwards the router went into a 'boot loop'. I solved it by using the standard Openwrt 'recovery button', telnet into the router and issuing a 'firstboot'. It seems...

Re: Version 1.9.1

Since "Preserve settings" options could be faulty in more than 50% of firmware udates, wouldn't be better to remove that option , and just put there a recommendation to take printscreens or save al the settings in a notepad? I never used this option, even if I had installed Gargoyle since...

Re: Version 1.9.1

I'm not sure what you mean. The asus rt-n16 performs miserably without the wl driver (NAT speed brcmsmac 10 Mbps, wl 40-50Mbps), so yeah - it is required. After doing some research, I am not comfortable making this the default driver. It is not supported well enough, and requires custom tools to co...

Re: Version 1.9.1

Is that driver required or just preferred?
If it's required it needs to be included in the build otherwise the version will be incorrect.

Re: Two feature questions before posting as Feature Requests

You could do that, but you'll make that page not work properly.

Look up "crontab", and see about using the exact same command, but on a semi regular basis (say once every 10 minutes?)

Re: Version 1.9.1

And from what version did you preserve settings?
That could be an issue.

My other suggestion wiuld be to turn it on and leave it overnight. I've seen a few tp link routers bring themselves back to life. That's a long shot though.

Re: Version 1.9.1

I'd like to be able to help you further. But I can only point you towards information that will allow you to help yourself.

It would be useful to know if both error reports are from the same model.

Re: Version 1.9.1

Go for a serial recovery.

Did the two people reporting "bricks" attempt to preserve settings?

Re: error enabling ACC

You can't/shouldn't use WinSCP to run these commands. You need to be logged in via SSH with a full terminal. That is likely why you got the error. You can alternatively reboot your router instead of issuing this restart command. Further to this however we really should be starting a whole new thread...
