Fon2/Fon+ Problem Resolved (I think)

I believe I've identified and corrected the problem many people are experiencing with the Fon+ and Fon 2 routers. At least, I have implemented a solution that works perfectly on my Fon2. Since I do not own a Fon+ I can't be certain that issues with this router are fixed. I have uploaded new Beta 4 f...

Issues with Fon+ and Fon2

It seems there are some serious issues with Beta 4 and the Fon+/Fon 2. The problem occurs with unmodified OpenWrt 8.09 RC1 as well so it's not just an issue with the Gargoyle additions. If you are using Gargoyle on one of these routers, stick with Beta 3 for now. While I tested thoroughly on the cla...

Re: svn build error

Ah, sorry about this. The compiler only bombs out on some host systems. The errors are overlooked (compiling continues) when I compiled the firmware, so I didn't notice them. This is now fixed in svn r150. I applied the fix to the beta4 tag as well so it should compile whether you checkout https://s...

Beta 4 Released

Beta 4 is now available. This is the first release of Gargoyle based on Kamikaze 8.09 instead of 7.09. This means there are many fundamental changes in this version compared to Beta 3. First, PPPoE should work. Yay! Second, Fon+ users no longer need a separate firmware image, the default Atheros fir...

Re: PPPoE problem?

PPPoE does indeed work in this experimental version, but I'm still working out several other issues associated with migrating to Kamikaze 8.09. I'm just about finished though -- I plan to make the release within a week. Anyone interested can find the experimental (broadcom) firmware versions at garg...

Re: 2 Things

Yes, firmware upgrading was fixed in beta2 and should still be fixed. Could you report exactly what problems you're encountering?

Slight Change of Plans

Due to some problems people are having with PPPoE support, which will be fixed by migrating to Kamikaze 8.09, I'm going to release a Beta 4 (instead of RC1) very shortly (within a few weeks) with no other improvements except compatibility with the latest version of Kamikaze. Expect it soon.

Re: Support for Atheros 71XX

You're in luck -- I've accelerated my planned release schedule for 8.09 compatibility to just a couple of weeks, possibly less. I'm going to release a Beta 4 (instead of RC1) with no other improvements except moving to 8.09 very soon since a lot of people are having problems with PPPoE support ( see...

Re: PPPoE problem?

Ok, I guess it still doesn't work, but I want to thank you guys for trying this. I REALLY appreciate all your help & feedback. It's very annoying not being able to test this feature myself. hotzenpl0tz -- As noted above I thought it might be some issue with iptables as well, and in a way it is. ...

Re: PPPoE problem?

I'm not sure if this will help solve the problem or not (unfortunately I don't have any way to test PPPoE connections, which makes debugging the issue very annoying), but I notice that when X-wrt configures PPPoE in Kamikaze, it always sets defaultroute=1. I've implemented this in the svn (r118) and...
