Is the 1.4.x series officially dead, or will there be future releases for us with old crappy routers that still work well with it?

Surely this has nothing to do with the router running it's own ssh server on port 22...

Sounds like the easy fix is to use the stock or different firmware. Guys i desperately need help..i installed the 1.5.5 and again even after providing the wan ip etc in the router, i am not getting internet...the wan light stays off without any internet connection. You should be using 1.4.7. The wireless drivers in 1.4.7 and 1.5.4 are the same, so I don't really know what your observations are related to.

Can you install ppp-mod-pppoa with opkg and then edit /etc/config/network to suit your needs?

The Dlink G604T is a modem with a router built in. Did you bridge it before you hooked up the TL-WR1043ND? What wan ip address does the TL-1043ND report it has when plugged into the Dlink G604T?

Reset the router to defaults and set it up again.
