Re: mysterious internet use

I can't limit the network to two people. There are about 16 people sharing the connection. I already do manually assign static IPs. I've been doing that for months. I can show you a graph of where my laptop's wired IP address has used up a ton of internet, even when that computer hasn't been connect...

Re: mysterious internet use

It is still happening. It just happened tonight to my friend upstairs, and to me a few days ago. It is really messing up our quotas. It happens everry month, to a different person, at a different time, and across different versions of the software. I might check out that program recommended above, b...

Re: Version 1.2.0, New Stable Branch

IPs could be arbitrary, but some people may want them to mean something. I assign certain IPs based on room number. The person who lives in room 1, would get 101 for their wired connection, and 201, for their wireless connection. It is more complicated when they have more than one computer, in that ...

Re: Version 1.2.0, New Stable Branch

I can only upgrade the router on the night of the last day of the month, since I don't want to risk losing quota information. So I won't get to try 1.2 for another week. I really like the idea of selecting macs from a dropdown box. What does this feature look like? Typing in Mac addresses was a huge...

Re: Suggestion: Quota improvement

I don't want shaping. We pay a lot of money to get the fastest connection they will allow. I want things to be fast for myself, and for everyone else. The problem with asking people to allow their quota lowered is what happens when they move out of the house? People are allows moving in and out of h...

Re: Q: Per Ip data usage monitoring

In addition to setting up the quotas for everybody, set up a quota of everything combined to be what you are allowed for the month.

I only upgrade the router on the first of the month. That way, when the data is deleted, it doesn't matter so much.

Re: mysterious internet use

That IP definitely was using bandwidth. It shows up in the bandwidth usage section. Like I said, sometimes I catch this thing in action and can enable web monitoring to see where it is going. I didn't catch it in action this month I always use the latest version. I upgrade about once a month, if the...

Re: mysterious internet use

It happened again sometime today. 192.168.1.112 used up 7GB of internet in just one day. That IP address used to belong to someone who no longer lives here.It used to belong to her WIRED NIC. No one in this network should have been able to get the address 192.168.1.112. I don't think anyone is doing...

Re: Suggestion: Quota improvement

Shaping is important for a lot of people, so do that when you can. I don't know if it would help me though. That would let people at least have some internet access if they reach their quota, which is good. It would be mean to cut them off from email when there is still internet available. That does...
