Re: Cisco modem/router

typical bridge mode may or may not be necessary. some modem/router combos allow you to disable all routing features from within the web gui without explicitly putting it into bridge mode. on the modem/router you will want to disable DHCP, wireless and assign a static IP to it on the LAN side. (i am ...

Re: Router with best wifi performance

I use a 2nd router as a wireless access point with the factory firmware. It's only job is to distribute the wireless signal (all "routing" features are disabled) and it's wired to...... The gargoyle router (TPLINK 1043ND), which handles all the usual routing functions and all the gargoyle ...

Re: QoS settings for variable wireless speeds

When the OP mentions wireless/wifi, (I believe) he *does* refer to his internet connection (between the modem/router and ISP) and the congestion there -- not his own internal LAN wireless.

I am on a wireless ISP as well.. common in rural areas.

I don't have a solution to the problem however.

Re: Wireless Access Point

gateway should be fine
fixed ip, (address assigned by router #1)
disable DHCP
ip address of router #1 for DNS
lan port to lan port wired connection

having the same SSID / pwd is optional but makes it easier to move about

Re: TP-Link TL-WR1043ND wireless issues

1 week later and no issues ^^ not really a good workaround if you don't have a 2nd router but it works for me and I can use gargoyle for QOS/Bandwidth Limiting and the 'stock' linksys as a fancy switch/WiFi AP. What I was experiencing was this: http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=11...

Re: TP-Link TL-WR1043ND wireless issues

Having the same issue with mine on 1.5.9. Sometimes I lose WIFI altogether, other times I get flaky WIFI speeds. I have a spare linksys wireless router kicking around that I will use as a wireless AP/switch and disable the WIFI on the 1043ND. The 1043ND will continue to run gargoyle without wireless.

Re: Newbee seeking advice.

http://www.geektonic.com/2007/06/how-to-setup-2nd-router-as-access-point.html for what you want to do: on router 2, disable DHCP, assign it an IP within router 1s subnet, out of its DHCP range and something unique. ie. if router one uses 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.255 and it's allowable DHCP range is 1...

newbie and tp link wr1043nd

Hi all, forgive me, I'm new and would like a little hand holding to get me through my first flash so I don't end up doing something irreversible. I purchased a new TP-Link TL-WR1043ND v1.1 and plan to flash it as per the instructions below, except I am guessing the files suggested in the article are...
