No, I have both running alongside each other and have for years.
If you are trying to route the same client subnets from both OpenVPN and WireGuard though, that would be a disaster.
Highly likley, its crashes in a big way

There could also be a problem running openvpn and wireguard at the same time?

Re: Gargoyle 1.15.x OpenWrt 24.10 beta - 2026-01-06

The first issue was importing the configuration. I ended up setting it up manually, which unfortunately caused a network outage. The kids were not impressed, so I need to set up a proper test environment before trying again.

I haven’t done the necessary due diligence yet.

For the record, I’m also having issues with WireGuard.

I wasn’t planning to comment, as I’ve already done my research, but I noticed someone else mentioning similar problems.

Re: Help installing Tailscale

I’ve been researching similar projects in parallel—Netmaker, Tailscale, NetBird, and others. The issue is that the current routers simply aren’t powerful enough. Newer, more capable routers may handle it, but the older Archer C7 units are no longer sufficient.

AI reply 1. Re: Help installing Tailscale

My Problem: I need remote access to multiple Network Video Recorders (NVRs). Previously, I used OpenVPN, but found the maintenance burden too high—managing hub-and-spoke topology, configuring client devices, and handling router firmware upgrades became unsustainable. I switched to simple port forwar...

Re: Help installing Tailscale

I've been looking at tailscale as well I think im going to go down the Nebula route instead https://nebula.defined.net Nebula is an open-source overlay networking tool that is self-hosted, designed to be fast, secure, and scalable. It uses on-demand, encrypted tunnels to connect hosts across any IP ...

Gemini CLI is a game changer. While Gemini Pro runs in a sandboxed environment inside your browser, Gemini CLI works directly with files on your local machine. You can still make manual edits if you prefer, or just say "git commit" — Gemini will even generate a meaningful commit message fo...
