Netem Support

I've used the Netem utility in the past, and it's a very useful diagnostic tool for me to simulate latency and packet loss on a network. I can easily use and readily install kmod-netem in the past couple snapshots of OpenWRT I've installed. I used to be able to install and use Netem in Gargoyle, but...

Re: QoS shapes my Upload

You enter 95% of your upload speed on the upload QoS screen. That is the standard recommendation. Without that QoS may not work. To get QoS to work you have to sacrifice some bandwidth. It's the price you pay. Thx for your reply. But losing bandwith is not qos like. Perhaps in the gargoyle world No...

Version 1.5.10 - "Multiple QoS Improvements?"

In the thread for version 1.5.10, it is noted that "multiple improvements" were made to the QoS feature. What specifically are these improvements that were mentioned?

Re: Problems with Battlefield 3

How fast are your upload and download speeds? What did you set your upload and download to in QoS?

Have you tried disabling Gargoyle's ACC feature to see if that alleviates the problem? Does this issue affect all Battlefield 3 servers you play on?

Re: QOS for console gaming

Why would you want to limit your max download on your Xbox? You should give your gaming machine a decent-size MINIMUM bandwidth, and leave maximum bandwidth off. If you're the only one using your internet, it might be a good idea for you to just turn off QoS. As long as you don't download anything o...

Re: Call of Duty online gaming more responsive w/ QoS Off

Thanks for the tips, pbix. It's just great and refreshing to see a router firmware developer who's as focused on the online gaming aspect as much as other tasks. Not enough firmwares out there put an emphasis on gaming latency and performance (which is probably the most latency-critical activity the...

Re: Call of Duty online gaming more responsive w/ QoS Off

Hmm, so you say that the Minimum Bandwidth setting is more important than the Percentage BW setting? I will try cranking up Minimum Bandwidth and see if it helps anything. A couple questions: 1) When configuring the classification rules, would it be best to set a priority for my PS3's device IP as a...

Re: Call of Duty online gaming more responsive w/ QoS Off

I've been suffering from laggy gameplay in Battlefield 3 (PS3 version) for a few months now--the usual issues such as bullets taking very long to register, or not registering at all, opponents seemingly a second or two ahead of me at all times, etc. I've tried limiting my max download and upload to ...

Call of Duty online gaming more responsive w/ QoS Off

The title is pretty much self-explanatory. I've been struggling with the latest Call of Duty game (Black Ops 2, PS3 version) for about a month now, and after trying a variety of different configuration tweaks, I found that disabling QoS has had the greatest effect on mitigating my "lag" is...
