Re: Unable to connect to router via ethernet cable.

When I run ipconfig it doesn't recognize my ethernet adaptor. Is this the problem?

Re: Unable to connect to router via ethernet cable.

Hi, the adapter is set to automatic. Tried "ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew", no change. Have tried all the 'sanity checks'. Where do I find the info to manually enter the IP address?

Unable to connect to router via ethernet cable.

Hi Everyone, I have a frustrating problem that I hope someone will have an answer to. I'm not an expert at this, so I will try to provide as much detail as possible. I have a desktop PC running Windows XP SP3 which can connect to the Internet via wi-fi but not ethernet. I have a D-Link modem/ router...

Slow download speed on TP-Link TL-WR1043ND

Hi All, I recently had a problem with my internet connection through my WR1043ND and thanks to the help of a fellow Gargoyle user I was able to solve the problem using a custom DNS. I entered 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as custom servers, and since then I have discovered that my download speed is considerab...

Re: Connectivity issue with TP-Link TL-WR1043ND

Hi, thanks again. I'll try the custom DNS now that I know the router is connected. I assume that I enter it at the Local Network/LAN section on the configuration page?

Re: Connectivity issue with TP-Link TL-WR1043ND

Yes, I did connect using the WAN port. I connected the modem to my PC and was able to connect to the internet ok. But what I have discovered is when I connect my modem to the router in standard mode (not bridged) and I check the status page of Gargoyle it now has a WAN IP Address, WAN Netmask and WA...

Re: Connectivity issue with TP-Link TL-WR1043ND

Hi Eric, I've checked the status page in Gargoyle. It shows nothing in the WAN IP Address, WAN Netmask and WAN Gateway IP. Does this mean a problem with the modem or router?

Re: Connectivity issue with TP-Link TL-WR1043ND

Hi, manually entering the DNS had no effect. I might try changing the name of the network and see if this has any effect. It's driving me nuts!

Thanks for the suggestion about DNS. I'll give it a go tomorrow and let you know the result.
