No need for Gargoyle but still recommend
Just an interesting "factoid". I wrote this article https://the-gadgeteer.com/2011/08/11/gargoyle-router-a-not-so-ugly-solution-to-bandwidth-monitoring-and-quotas-mini-review/ in 2011, 9 years ago and I'm still getting comments on it :) While I don't have to worry about the kids any more (...

Re: Warning TP-Link TL-WR1043ND Bricked
I bricked mine when I first got it and found this procedure which I stored away. It's a bit old but it worked for me. Good luck ! 1) Download and install small http server: http://home.lanck.net/mf/srv/index.htm 2) Download the sysupgrade binary at * below 3) Copy the file downloaded in 2) to the de...

Re: Time Quota per day - kids
I'd like this sort of per day access too but I'm pretty sure Gargoyle doesn't have it though :| Thanks to another post here somewhere I'm managing the kids internet as well as I can , The hint here is to use IP ranges for each child and their devices: e.g. Kid 1 192.168.1.60-192.168.1.69 Kid 2 192.1...

Re: Stability of Gargoyle (1.3.14 ) on TPLink WR1403ND ??
Finally got time to reinstall Dorito's firmware. Made sure I did lot's for resets on the stock firmware and a couple after I reinstalled Gargoyle. Now been up and running or 3 days with no wifi issues :D All the graphs and connected hosts run fine under Chrome as well :) Many thanks for uploading th...

Re: [SOLVED] TP Link WR1043ND - Setting up
Just to let you know that my latest install of Dorito's firmware has been running solid for 3 days now. No issues with wifi, all the graphs work fine under Chrome. I must have held my tongue right on the last install  ( And of course today 1.3.15 is released, decisions....decisions...stick with...

Re: Quotas and multiple hosts per user
Ahh, so a range is shared, individual IPs aren't. Wasn't sure if a range would give you individual IPs in the range all having the full quota each. Should have tried it and looked at Quote usage in Status. Makes sense. Thanks, just requires a little rejigging of my IP schema and hopefully I'm right ...

Quotas and multiple hosts per user
My boys each have a notebook and an Ipod I want to be able to limit their download/upload usage to around 7GB each per month. I'm a bit confused as to the limit rules in quota I have NBs as 192.168.1.5x and ipods as 192.168.1.6x ( so .53 and .63 are the same lads equipment ) So in a quota rule if I ...

Re: [SOLVED] TP Link WR1043ND - Setting up
Belbo, Thanks for feedback. Nothing to do with obstacles or distance, wireless just seems to completely die on the router. Everything works fine with a wired client but there's actually NO wireless at all. And as mentioned last time, I lost my PPOE settings completely :x So............ I've just loa...

Re: [SOLVED] TP Link WR1043ND - Setting up
Glad to see Dorito's firmware is working for you. I'm not so lucky . Reflashed last night, within 24 hours was having wireless connectivity issues again and after a reboot it lost my PPOE login details  Back to my WRT54G V2.2 with Gargoyle again, but that seems to have wireless issues as well ...
