I had a similar problem with my WR1043ND with 1.7.2 when LAN and WAN were bridged together (eg. access point utilization) the two "sub-sections" couldn't reach each other it looks like a real bug, i hope somebody will look at it I couldn't solve it, only bypass avoiding the use of WAN port...

The software configuration was right The problem is in the bridge between WAN and LAN physical ports The problem presented with the Gateway connected to the WAN port of the WR1043ND and the rest of the devices to the LAN ports I moved every device to the LAN ports leaving the WAN unused and its work...

moreover I suggest to find the DMZ Host option in the TG790
and set it toward the WR1043ND WAN IP
(in your case 192.168.1.253)
this will help you to set up port forwarding just once in Gargoyle instead in both the routers
