Throttling wireless users only?

Post by generik99 »

Sorry if this has been asked before, no matter how what relevant terms I use, the search tells me I have too many common words.

We'd like to use a gargoyle setup for free wifi in our space with the option of traffic throttling and wireless broadcast restrictions. I can do the later with scheduled cron jobs bring the wifi up and down, but is there any way to use quotas just for wireless users without knowing their IPs? I didn't see anywhere that allowed you to specify an interface.

Thanks!

You cannot do this directly. You can however assign static IPs to your known LAN devices and then use DHCP to cover everyone else. Finally use and IP range to cover the DHCP assigned addresses and router them to the quotes or QOS classes you want.
