The first version of the new, 1.5.x experimental branch is now available. 1.5.0 is still based on OpenWrt Backfire branch, but contains a major update to the connection/basic page controls for dual band routers -- it is now possible to scan for and join 5GHz band SSIDs in wireless client mode or bridge mode. Separate channel width controls for the different bands are now available as well.

The next release in the 1.5 branch (1.5.1) will integrate 3G functionality for USB routers (currently in the 3g branch of the repository), which developer Cezary Jackiewicz has been working on for some time.

The new stable 1.4.3 is also available, which contains a few minor bugfixes and the latest wireless driver/fixes updates from the OpenWrt Backfire branch.

New in 1.5.0:

• 5GHz wireless client and wireless bridge modes can now be used on dual band routers
• Enables scanning of 5GHz Channels on dual band routers
• Separate channel width controls for each band on dual band routers
• Compressed javascript for smaller final image sizes
• QoS connection bytes now measured in KB, not MB
• Fixes Wired-Dhcp mode on single port router such as Gargoyle Pocket Router (MR3201A)
• Fixes dnsomatic.com dynamic DNS configuration and adds gratisdns.dk dynamic DNS configuration (thanks to Thomas Markussen)
• Fixes "Monitor Only" option in web usage monitor
• Fixes bug that can cause a crash when restarting web usage monitor
• Add Poland to UTC+1 timezone list
• Rename field for labeling port forwarding rules from "Application" to "Description", allowing longer descriptions than 10 characters
• Update httpd_gargoyle to do a better job of preventing page caching
• Fixes erroneous display of errors in httpd_gargoyle startup
• Increments OpenWrt Backfire version to include latest wireless driver fixes

New in 1.4.3:

Thank you very much for the update!! As I went back to the official firmware of my TL-WR1043ND, due to the dyndns not updating after a few days when using it with the Gargoyle 1.3.16 and 1.4.2. I am willing to install gargoyle again. Do you know if the problem was fixed on these versions?

Upgraded from 1.4.2 to 1.4.3 on D-Link Dir-601 using Dir-600 a1 image

Sysupgrade image upgraded no problem and restored
the 1.4.2 backup - working nice and smooth here - don't see any issues
so far, will do more config testing on the weekend.

Tried 1.4.3 on my TL-1043ND v1.7 router and doing any type of bittorrent seems to cause WiFi to drop out after a few minutes.

I'm using the default 4096 connections, 600 TCP timeout, 180 UDP timeout

Actually, it turns out that the wifi drops out after a few minutes no matter if I am using bittorrent or not. Must be the same bug that was in 1.4.2 and the 1043ND router.

Not sure if this will help in narrowing down the dropout bug, but I have the same router except mine is version 1.8 and I never have wireless drop outs with the 1.4.2 version which I'm still running. Had close to a month of listed uptime on the status page when I rebooted it while setting up a new device, and in all that time not one problem with the wireless.

Version 1.5.0 on Netgear wndr3700v1 runs very well. Only a minor error in my case, don't know because of the update - httpd_gargoyle to do a better job of preventing page caching -, but
- if after short time trying to logout, it works
- if after longer time trying to logout, it stays back to overview site. You can click on logout.sh but nothing happens.

EDIT: My Firefox cache is the reason why the upon error is happened.

I had similar trouble too, before I discovered that there was trouble with one of my access points.
Using this made it possible for me to discover the problem (I have Kiwi Syslog server installed on my server):

More info regarding the WiFi dropout issue on TL-WR1043ND (v1.7):

I switched back to stock firmware and have been running for 24 hours without a single WiFi dropout. So I think something in the 1.4.3 firmware is causing the WiFi dropouts.

Flash one of the OpenWRT builds on your WR1043ND v1.7

See if the wireless is stable for 24-48 hours

If it it not, its an issue with OpenWRT and should be reported
in their forums so they could help fix any wifi driver issues.

If it is stable, that would give Eric something to look at in
his builds - maybe he does some extra tweaks or fixes.

For testing 1.4.2 - I had my desktop connected wirelessly to my
DIR-601 continuously for about a week, 24/7 uptime - and I have
had NO wireless dropouts - constant connection.
