That log missed the important bits. Can’t see anything.
Use the wifi command and try again to avoid the messages we don’t need.

See “country”. It may not be required yet.

30 sec boot loop on MR3220 v1

Hello, and thanks for a very well executed system that I have been using for many years.

For the first time I am having trouble: Just installed 1.10.0 om my TL-MR3220 v1 up from 1.9.1 and it crashes after about 30 second of uptime. Ie. effectively bricked.. I managed to secure the dmesg boot log.

Code: Select all

Hello, and thanks for a very well executed system that I have been using for many years.

For the first time I am having trouble: Just installed 1.10.0 om my TL-MR3220 v1 up from 1.9.1 and it crashes after about 30 second of uptime. Ie. effectively bricked.. I managed to secure the dmesg boot log.

Same problem with 5ghz on TP-Link TL-WDR4300 v1.

On logread I see this error message after sending a 'wifi' command. I assume wlan1 is the 5ghz radio/network connection:

From the error message below, it seems I have the invalid channel set. After changing it, the 5ghz channel is working just fine.

Code: Select all

Wed Nov 1 22:40:42 2017 daemon.notice netifd: radio1 (4804): wlan1: IEEE 802.11 Configured channel (116) not found from the channel list of current mode (2) IEEE 802.11a

Wed Nov 1 22:40:42 2017 daemon.notice netifd: radio1 (4804): wlan1: IEEE 802.11 Hardware does not support configured channel
So for those having problem with 5ghz, try googling for your router model and available channels for that frequency.

Some models do not support DFS channels correctly.
This is possibly a fault of Gargoyle (not including correct packages) or the country regulatory settings may be required to be set.

If you want 5ghz to work, stick low or high in the band. Not in the middle.

If you want to report that your particular model doesn’t work on DFS, I can try and investigate why.

Using google and trying various things regarding the regulatory country and DFS it seems that the problem is that by default gargoyle is setup to be on the global regulatory country. Change it to your country code it turns on 5ghz wifi and works perfectly.

I ssh to my router (I am using a ubuntu box e.g. ssh root@192.168.1.1 from the terminal) input my password and using the following commands works perfectly now!

uci show wireless

from there I can see that I am using at least on xiaomi mini(mt7620) radio0 and radio1

uci set wireless.radio0.country=GR
uci set wireless.radio1.country=GR
uci commit wireless

GR is for Greece and then

iw reg get

To check that the country is changed

Not all routers require it. Some do.

I'm glad we found you a solution.
Regulatory settings are an intended feature in a future version.

Jumping from landline to voip today. Grandstream HT-502 behind router without problem, no need to port forward.
