2.6 kernel, brcm47xx builds
Hi Eric ,
I am wondering when will gargoyle move to 2.6 kernel,
brcm47xx builds ?? I do understand it's crucial to build
on a stable release but it's difficult to find new router
that support 2.4 build .
I am sure many of the user beside me want to run
gargoyle on N router that is faster and more ram.
Do you have some kind of road map ? or timeline?
cheers,
flora

Re: 2.6 kernel, brcm47xx builds
Florachan,
Do you know if OpenWRT supports the devices you are looking at?
I have some Ralnk 3052 based routers (WHR-G300N's)
I'd be interested in testing an OpenWRT image on this.
The Ralink 3052's are flooding the market, but there is some
concern on the space. It's got 32MB of RAM, which is a bonus,
but they are limited to 4MB flash for most of the routers.

Re: 2.6 kernel, brcm47xx builds
I am running 1.3.x on netgear wndr3700, which is very similar to DIR-825 judging by the specs. I do not believe there is official Gargoyle build for this hardware, but I was able to do custom build without much trouble. After flashing I had to configure WAN and WIFI manually using SSH. I also had problems with download QoS was not working, but it was quite easy to fix. Everything else I tried seems to work fine.

Re: 2.6 kernel, brcm47xx builds
The D-Link Dir-300 Rev B1 is a clone of the D-Link Dir-600
It is a RaLink chipset!
Dir-300 Rev A was Atheros and is supported by Gargoyle
Dir-300 Rev B is RaLink chipset and not supported by Gargoyle yet.
At some point it may happen, but only Eric knows when!
Don't try and flash Atheros image onto a Dir-300 Rev B
It will brick it - if it even takes the image...

Re: 2.6 kernel, brcm47xx builds
There's a guy currently working on a port to Ralink chipsets. I think his motivation is that there are a bunch of cheaper routers with Ralink chips that also have USB ports, and he wants to use Gargoyle on these boxes.
He contacted me for initial info, but so I have no idea what his current progress is.

Still waiting for RaLink support myself.
Am sure its a while off - Atheros and Broadcom have been around
for a while, where-as RaLink's are fairly new to to the wireless
router game and also some of them have limited flash memory.
Might be a wait for RaLink support.
Stick with Broadcom and Atheros devices for best compatibility.

Re: 2.6 kernel, brcm47xx builds
quick question does gargoyle support TL-WR941ND ?
http://nuwiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr941nd
it said backfire supported but I wonder if I can easily install it
via the web gui using gargoyle Atheros build
gargoyle_1.3.3-atheros-combined.squashfs.img ?
