REVERT TO FACTORY-HOW TO? tp-link 1043nd no internet

Post by zucci »

hi, all!!

ive recently bought a tp-link wr1043nd version 1.10 and flashed gargoyle firmware 1.5.9 onto it (after intermediate step of flashing from stock firmware to german version of firmware .... 3_9_17_up_boot)

ive read that the intermediate step of flashing to the german firmware should preserve the WAN port (prevent the WAN port from being disabled, if other alternative firmwares were installed to the router)...

right now, the gargoyle firmware has been successfully flashed,
but no internet!!
(i believe that the lack of internet is similar to the WAN port being disabled--issue that i was trying to prevent)

question1:
(did the german ver having contained the word 'boot' have anything with disabling the WAN??)

main concern/question2:
*******any input as to how to revert back to stock firmware? **********
(trying very hard to avoid a 'brick')
a (new) link to the appropriate, correct firmware would be appreciated..
as well as step by step instruction would be extremely helpful!!
(tried reading thru the forum already, and the links seem to have ~expired?)

-------------

read here
(http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... =11&t=3834)

that using the factory firmware provided on this site
(http://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/dok ... l-wr1043nd)
for our 1043nd didnt work out...

question 3:
So can i use the ugrade button in gargoyle with the following factory firmware instead (as it does not contain the word 'boot', and has the word 'up' in the .bin file)?
-->TL-WR1043ND_V1_120405.zip which contains the file...
wr1043nv1_en_3_9_17-sysupgrade.bin
----------

not very good with technoogy in general,
but looking to use some features in third party firmware to...
a) control bandwidth quota per device
b) monitor bandwidth usage as well...

(which is what gargoyle has)

I am also up for suggestions as to new router choices that would be compatible with any of the third party firmwares that offer the 'bandwidth quota control' feature...
as well as any routers that come with the 'bandwidth quota' feature already straight out of the box!
(but preferably, if can be done with gargoyle, the better)

thanks all!!
zuc from canada!!

patiently awaiting all expertise!!

Re: tp-link 1043nd no internet after flashing to gargoyle

additional info:

if i were to follow this link
http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl- ... al.console

to go back to factory firmware using this firmware from the manufacturer....
TL-WR1043ND_V1_120405 <--latest factory firmware
(from: http://www.tp-link.com/ca/support/downl ... n=V1#tbl_j)

will it work?

to be restored to factory firmware?

is so, please also offer stepbystep instructions to revert back to factory firmware =)

--after which, please offer assistance to getting gargoyle appropriately installed with working internet (no WAN disabling issue)

much needed guidance,
zuc

(technology level: beginner's beginner
plz 'dumb it down' for me as much as possible,
sorry!!)

so after anybody's suggestions for reverting back to factory firmware,

to get gargoyle installed,
should i just skip the german firmware,
and install gargoyle 1.5.9 directly?

(since...
a. ive read that 1.5.9 is based on attitude adjustment .: supports the v1.10 of 1043nd

b. common success stories of flashing to gargoyle directly from factory firmware--see below)
