Version 1.5.6

Post by Eric »

New in 1.5.6:
  • Numerous bug-fixes for OpenVPN including fix for bug preventing server from activating if any port-forwards are active.
  • New Status/OpenVPN section for displaying hosts connected to OpenVPN server
  • Option to track total OpenVPN bandwidth in Status/Bandwidth section
  • Configure Server with OpenVPN TLS-Auth key, for additional security, and allow setting of TLS-Auth in OpenVPN Config controls
  • Include .ovpn file (which is identical in all but name to .conf file) in OpenVPN client configuration zip files, for better interaction with Windows Client
  • Inform user if saving a OpenVPN client config that expects different subnet than what router has configured, and give user the option to automatically switch subnets to the new one.
  • Bump Tor to 0.2.3.19-rc, and fix bug causing Tor bandwidth to be double-counted
  • Special build for D-Link DIR-825-b1, without Tor. While this router has 8MB of flash, layout is such that not all of it can't be used, and including Tor exceeds maximum.
  • Fix necessary time settings ayutomatically when upgrading from versions <= 1.5.5 and preserving settings
  • Make sure new ntpd daemon gets built on Alix systems

1st Post! Nice, Eric. I might even try this one on my production router. Really excited about being able to get to my network from somewhere else. Thanks again for all you work!

Hello and thank you for your work on this firmware.

I'm using Gargoyle on several routers of mine, and tried to take advantage of the OpenVPN feature in the latest versions. I have an OpenVPN server based on FreeBSD, and try to set up a site-to-site connection. But both in this and in the previous versions, i get this message "ERROR: Could not find config file" when i try to setup the client configuration, either manually or by uploading ovpn and pem CA file.

Is there anything i'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance :D

EDIT: Found it, must fill in Client Certificate File and Client Key File for it to work!

Is the 1.4.x series officially dead, or will there be future releases for us with old crappy routers that still work well with it?

I think 1.4.x is not dead until 1.6 is released since 1.5 is experimental builds.. :)

Find bug! Openvpn and Quotas can't use in same time, after setup Quotas the pc(with quotas) can't contact internet and local area network even the Gargoyle Router, only can use remote web to access Gargoyle Router.

I agree there is something very wrong with 1.5.6

I've done a fresh upgrade to 1.5.6 (RSpro)

I can login into the router and it asks me to setup password and time zone but the setting don't stick, I just gets stuck in a loop.

I've done a factory install and still no luck

I've got another RSpro and it seamed to install 1.5.6 ok. Will double check on this
