The install is straight forward for the TL-WR1043ND-V2

Go to http://www.gargoyle-router.com/download.php and select
Download: Firmware images
Architecture: Atheros AR71XX
Branch: 1.6 (stable)
Version: 1.6.2

Assuming that you currently have factory firmware then download and apply:
gargoyle_1.6.2-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr1043nd-v2-squashfs-factory.bin

Why would you want to do that?

There are some notes at the bottom of this page (but I suspect they are old and I have never attempted to revert)

I would also like to revert without bricking my router. The way Gargoyle handles wireless is inadequate. I was getting a solid 300mbps connection stock, had some issues, decided to try gargoyle, and now it won't go above 144mbps.

I tried increasing channel width, changing channel, to no avail. Not ready for prime time.

Anyway, does anyone have an idea on where 2.1's stock image to revert might be?

Hi, I've just installed gargoyle on a TL WR1043ND successfully but am unsure about how to connect to the internet. I have a spare TL w8950 that I have been using as my wireless router. The gargoyle doesnt seem to work just plugging the phone line into the back and i'm not sure how to connect the gargoyle and router and which one to plug the phone line back into to get back onto the internet?? Sorry for being so ignorant but any help would be much appreciated

Have a look at http://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/dok ... ario-modem

I think that you are going to have to use the TL-W8950 as a modem and the TL-WR1043ND as your Gargoyle router

Hi again
I tried setting my gargoyle in for both bridged and unbridged as described in the link without any luck, Any other suggestions?
I have uploaded a screenshot of my settings for the gargoyle. Maybe there is something wrong there? Or is my other TP Link wireless router not compatible with the gargoyle one?
Thanks in advance for your help

Sorry mpk, I may have misunderstood your setup and intent right back at the start. What device do you currently connect to the Internet with ("plugs into the phone line")?

Hi nworbnhoj
I am connected to the internet ie have plugged the phone line into the w8950 which is the router that I have used for the last couple years. I want to be able to limit data from the internet to my teenage son so have put gargoyle onto a new wr1043nd. I understand that you cant just connect the gargoyle to the internet so am trying to go through my w8950 but am having trouble getting both machines configured correctly. I tried setting up the w8950 in bridge mode and the gargoyle as in the post above and also the not bridged setup with the w8950 as I would normally use it. In both cases I had the two machines connected via a LAN port on the w8950 to the WAN port on the gargoyle. No internet connection with either setup.
Thanks in advance for your time and help,
mpk
