Remember the next time to buy a printer with a built-in network server.
USB printers connected directly to computers can also be "unstable" sometimes.
Have had network printers at home for the last about 10 years and the last 5 years they have not been much more expensive than equal printers without a network connection.
My current "printer": Brother DCP-8065DN with 288MB RAM.

I never use USB,

I was just using it to test and edit the wiki

What about the irony of using a Brother printer through HP JetDirect emulation?

Don;t know why, but some users over net say, that when they use active USB hubs, then many problems with printers disappeaer. Maybe too low energy on routers USB side.

I wanted to say more but I was unsure so I just stuck with the facts.

From my understanding the important part is the protocol e.g.

protocol = RAW. port 9100

I wanted to use "custom" with these settings ..........................

But to be honest I don't know if all printers use this same protocol?
