Getting usb to work 1.3.8, help

Post by SVoyager »

Hello,

Just got 1.3.8 installed and working. I have my external usb drive plugged on the router (DIR-825) and I cant figure out where/how to get it working.

Is this some config in the web interface or lots of command line stuff?

Thanks in advance for the help!

It should be a config section in the web GUI

I think it's under System tab, not @ home right now, so can't
verify, but there is a GUI page for this

HOWEVER

If your tab shows as blank or not available, your router may
not have full support for USB functionality yet

I remember Eric said he did a bunch of them, but some devices
may not always work with every driver

Example: WZR-HP-G300NH - was supported since 1.3.5

But only in 1.3.7 did USB functionality show up in the GUI
And only in 1.3.8 did USB functionality work on the WZR-HP-G300NH

So if its not working now, it might be in a future update.

2x Asus RT-N16 = Asus 3.0.0.4.374.43 Merlin
2x Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH V1 A0D0 = Gargoyle 1.9.x / LEDE 17.01.x
2x Engenius - ESR900 Stock 1.4.0 / OpenWRT Trunk 49400

Basically I don't have a nice list of models with a USB port, so I didn't realize this model had one and didn't add your model to the list that gets built with the usb_storage plugin.

I just fixed this in the git repo, so it should be fixed for the next release.

ahh, great news!! thanks!!! Looking forward to the next release!!

On a side note, while you are busy with other things, gargoyle, etc, would you like some of us to gather some info for you about the routers?

Maybe put a forum thread about the type of info that could be useful to you? I'm sure some of us would gladly spend the time to check around the net for answers! That would save you some time and make the already good gargoyle even better!!
