Version 1.1.7 & 1.0.16

The latest release, 1.1.7 contains a new QoS implementation. This is largely the work of Paul Bixel (forum username pbix), with whom I've been discussing this for some time. With this major contribution, along with his minor contribution in the past, he is now an official Gargoyle developer (he now has commit access to the SVN).

So, many thanks and congratulations go to Paul! I look forward to continue working with him on improving the QoS functionality in Gargoyle.

• New QoS implementation, replacing "minimize delay" option with minimum bandwidth setting (HUGE thanks to Paul Bixel for this)
• Dramatically increases performance of client bridge on atheros devices
• Upgrades OpenWrt version to 8.09.2 (latest in 8.09 branch)
• Ensures that bandwidth plot IPs to display get saved properly when bandwidth page reloads
• Fixes bug preventing MAC addresses starting with A-F from being assigned a static IP

I look forward to the new QoS implementation. since the VOIP still wasn't working perfectly while torrents are running, I look forward very much to see how the new QoS can improve my VOIP! (tomato is doing a really great job on QoS but it doesn't have quota control)

I ever tried openwrt, ddwrt and tomato, but now I'm with Gargoyle 1.1.6 on my asus wl520gu. It's so powerful and fit all my needs. recently I just bought another asus rt-n13u which is a wireless router, if possible, I really want put Gargoyle into it. since it is Soc based, I'm wondering how I can achieve my goal. could pros here give me some hints?

OpenWRT does not support your asus rt-n13u router so you cannot use Gargoyle on it. Monitor openwrt.org to see if/when this might happen. When is can run OpenWRT then it will be possible to run Gargoyle as well.

Hi everyone,

As with this update I noticed something strange; my WRT54GL which according to the specs should have 16Mb (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linksys_WR ... es#WRT54GL), on the status overview page it only shows 14Mb.

I have been experiencing some slowness recently too, but that may have been some hard work the router was doing connecting wirelessly to internet DHCP for WAN (instead of the wired).

I have tried resetting, rebooting, and setting it back to defaults but it appears to persist. I even powered off for a while, not sure what to try next...

any help appreciated.

On earlier versions, did it show that same behaviour?

The 1.1.7 is using the new OpenWRT 8.09.2 branch, so maybe
its a bug in the OpenWRT portion.

Try and load up 1.1.5 and see if the issue persists.

The discrepancy in memory size is due to linux not reporting the memory occupied by the linux kernel itself. The remaining memory is where the kernel sits -- the 14 MB reported is the amount available to user-space.

You'll see this behavior on all versions of Gargoyle (and OpenWrt). Don't worry -- your router's memory is being fully utilized.

hmm its not eintirely true. OpenWrt trunk does not suport RL3052F chipset due to proprietary ralink drivers. But, i did manage to run Openwrt dedicated for La Fonera 2.0N (old kernel 2.6.21) on my cheap RL3052F router. So if u tinker with asus enugh probably you wil get your Gargoyle runing (partialy)
