Version 1.5.8 - USB Storage with FTP

This version fixes most of the issues reported in 1.5.7, and introduces an improved USB Storage section that now supports sharing files via FTP.

You should be able to preserve settings between 1.5.7 and 1.5.8, but preserving settings from 1.5.6 or before when upgrading to 1.5.8 will still cause major problems.

New in 1.5.8:
  • USB Storage Section now supports sharing files via FTP
  • USB Storage Section now supports sharing a subdirectory on a drive instead of the whole drive
  • USB Storage Section now supports configuration of multiple users
  • Fixes 3G Support (broken in 1.5.7)
  • Fixes use of non-standard DNS servers (broken in 1.5.7)
  • Fixes printer sharing (broken in 1.5.7)
  • Fixes bug from blocking of MAC addresses assigned a static IP that connect from a different IP, when appropriate setting is checked
  • New Dynamic DNS services: no-ip.pl and dtdns.com (Thanks to Cezary Jackiewicz for this patch)
  • Fixes bug preventing NTP daemon from starting properly after time settings are saved (Thanks to Chris Nesbit for this patch)
  • Fixes Display of DNS servers in overview section
  • Display router hardware model in overview section
  • OpenWrt version upgraded to Attitude Adjustment Beta 2 (1.5.7 was based on Beta 1)

Yesterday upgrade to the latest revision of ispy. This version 1.5.8 is the same? Or have any more improvement? Wonder why they are based on AA beta2.
Thanks for your work, are the best!

They should be the same.

The reason I waited until today to upload this is that it wasn't until today that the OpenWrt packages for Attitude Adjustment Beta 2 were uploaded, so the opkg link didn't start working until today. Before today, you couldn't do a proper update of opkg to install OpenWrt packages since the link didn't work.

HELP - unable to open Admin console !

Just upgraded from 1.5.7 to 1.5.8 without any problem. Router restarted by itself and I can surf the net. However, I cannot access Admin console thru http://192.168.1.1/overview.sh !! But I can login the router using PuTTY. Powered off and on the router, still no luck. What can I do now?

Router: Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH

I assume that the backup/restore between 1.5.7 and 1.5.8 is required? I assume it all works perfectly as well? I don't really want to have to setup from scratch again.

pc168: Not sure what might be wrong. I've tested this version and it works fine. You can try uploading firmware (use the sysupgrade file) to /mnt using scp, and then login via ssh and run: "sysupgrade -n /tmp/[firmware_sysupgrade_file]" That should switch to a different version (whatever is in the sysupgrade file, which you can find in the download section).

Iceron: There is no -NA image for the 3700v2. The North American version is the same as that for other regions, so there is no separate -NA image.

pmerrill: From the original post: "You should be able to preserve settings between 1.5.7 and 1.5.8" So, yes, you can preserve settings and it should work.

Hi Eric

***** New finding

I can open the Web Admin (http://192.168.1.1) using Firefox 16.0.1

But now it failed in IE9 with the popup --> Do you want to open or save login.sh from 192.168.1.1?

Previously, IE9 worked fine when running firmware 1.5.7

Any idea?
