Hi, i'm an italian boy. For my first post i would do great compliments for thi great job.
I have tl-wr1043nd v1.8 router with installed opewrt 10.3.1-rc5.
I want to do good qos, so i think that gargoyle could be my choice.

I read that various people speak good about 1043nd, but there are other people that have problem with catting maximum bandwidth.
I have a slower connection (i'm in italy, obv :/), dw 3.5Mbps e up 256Kbps, so i would know if i will have some issue with decreasing my just "poor" bandwidth, considering that i will have qos enable.

Hope my english is understandable...

Linksys 160NL here. I have successfully flashed my router with v1.5.0 version but WIFI went dead after 2-3 hours of web browsing and playing League of Legends (with uPnP ON). So it seem you still have load work to do with this firmware.

Hello
It is working very well with my fiber connection, but I am not using qos.

If you want 13 channels and your router is an AR71xx bit of gear, you'll need my modified regulatory.bin from http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/netgear/wndr3700 . Read the bit about wireless regulatory issues on that page...it will explain why. Remember to correctly set your country code (preferably before installing it!).
Thanks caeci11ius, however after setting "option 'country' 'AU' " on my WNDR3700v1, and replace the regulatory.bin with one from http://datatomb.de/mirror/stuff I find no different from "iw list" prior and after. :(
Hi qtr. This definitely works on my WNDR3700v1. Are you putting the country option in the device section of the config? That's where it ought to go...perhaps you've been putting it in the iface section? You also need to put it in for both devices...don't forget to do that (as otherwise your 5ghz may be non-compliant). Finally, if you're still having problems, check that the file for direct download is the same as the one on rapidshare. I only uploaded the rapid one, so I can't vouch for the other. Just curious...you're Aussie right? If not, you should probably also use your local country code and not AU...

Hi caeci11ius, yep I am in Sydney. I followed exactly the steps on your wiki page. There's no problem. But what are differences on the 'list' that I would expect to find compare to the original 'list'? I had a quick look but can't find any different.

PS: I've downloaded the bin file from your rapidshare link and bit compare with the one from databom.de to see if there's any different.

Qtr, the differences are as follows:
  • Channels 12 and 13 enabled for the 2.4GHz device (14 remains disabled, it is only available in Japan, and only for the 802.11B standard, not for G or N).
  • Instead of 17dBm max power for the low 5GHz channels, you'll get 23dBm.
There might also be a few other changes...perhaps a few more 5GHz channels available (there should actually be a lot more according to what's legally allowable here, but I haven't worked out how to do that yet, and I don't really care about it either as there are plenty of channels on 5GHz even with a somewhat restricted list. I sent a change request to the people who maintain the regdomain list some time ago, but it was before my membership for the mailing list came through and there was no response. At some point I may try again, but as I said, plenty of channels from my perspective anyway.

You shouldn't need to go into the terminal and run iw list to see these changes btw, they should be visible from within Gargoyle (and have been for quite a few versions now)...

Let me know if you still can't get channels 12 and 13, and we'll see if we can work out why...

You try it, you can always go back....But i had tried orginal,dd-wrt and Gargoyle, becoz im using Gargoyle is the speed..With dd-wrt i was upp to 65-75mbit sec..With gargoyle i have speed like 90-120mbit sec...And believe me on that. I've done so many tests just to be sure that it is not the circumstances were just perfect. So I made them at different times and days ... And you should not have Qos on.... ;) with your bandwith....Turn also turn off Qos in Windows or what your system runing on..Windows take 20% off your bandwith for system resources..
Just a tip...
