In my quest to identify what's making my 1043D's wifi drop, I started logread'ing.

I'm seeing a lot of these:

Sep 27 10:11:01 Gargoyle cron.err crond[2405]: USER root pid 12254 cmd /usr/bin/set_kernel_timezone >/dev/null 2>&1

Is that normal?

yes, it is normal... I am at least getting it every ten minutes on both mine (and I am having no trouble with them).

Do you have any other errors?

Not yet.. will keep logging until the wifi dies -- it happens about once a day or two days.

I'm still not getting IP ranges to log Websites visited. Eric, can you look into that?

Turn the Website monitoring on, put in several IP ranges to monitor.

Nothing gets logged.

If I have it log all IP addresses, it logs just fine.

Try to check if you are getting some "IEEE 802.11: deauthenticated due to local deauth request"...
They where the reasons for my trouble with my old AP.

Roger that.

I have noticed this:

Code: Select all

Sep 27 13:02:06 Gargoyle user.err kernel: ath: DMA failed to stop in 10 ms AR_CR=0x00000024 AR_DIAG_SW=0x42000020 DMADBG_7=0x000286c0

Sep 27 13:02:06 Gargoyle user.err kernel: ath: Could not stop RX, we could be confusing the DMA engine when we start RX up

Sep 27 13:03:08 Gargoyle daemon.info dnsmasq-dhcp[2423]: DHCPINFORM(br-lan) 192.168.1.100 00:16:ea:6f:19:56

Sep 27 13:03:08 Gargoyle daemon.info dnsmasq-dhcp[2423]: DHCPACK(br-lan) 192.168.1.100 00:16:ea:6f:19:56 Dell-PC
a few seconds later, wifi dropped to that client (Dell-PC) -- about a minute after that, it was back up by itself.

Not the issue that annoys me the most, but thought I'd let it be known.

EDIT:

After some Googling, it looks like it is/was a fairly common issue, see:

EDIT, EDIT:

Possibly fixed in: https://dev.openwrt.org/changeset/28301

Too bad I'm a building noob and will have to wait for the next Gargoyle release!

New wifi drop case?

Code: Select all

Sep 27 16:00:01 Gargoyle cron.err crond[17458]: USER root pid 26463 cmd /usr/bin/set_kernel_timezone >/dev/null 2>&1

Sep 27 16:00:01 Gargoyle cron.err crond[17458]: USER root pid 26464 cmd date -u +"%Y.%m.%d-%H:%M:%S" >/usr/data/time_backup

Sep 27 16:00:01 Gargoyle cron.err crond[17458]: USER root pid 26465 cmd /tmp/do_bw_backup.sh

Sep 27 16:01:01 Gargoyle cron.err crond[17458]: USER root pid 26631 cmd /usr/bin/set_kernel_timezone >/dev/null 2>&1
Dropped for about a minute. Then came back by itself.

Hello, just curious if anyone else been getting this issue on WRT54GL router, I am on version 1.3.15 and trying to update to the latest one (1.4.2) but after the uploading screen nothing happens and the router only seems to reboot to the same version.
Any suggestions?

Also for development, I think it would be nice to add links to this main site and the forum to the firmware. what do you think?
Linksys WRT54GL = Gargoyle 1.4.2
TP-Link TL-WR741ND = Gargoyle 1.4.2
Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH = Gargoyle 1.4.2
