I was thinking - would it be a good idea to narrow the country selection to those in the current time zone?
In theory yes, but that adds to code complexity.
I have an easier implementation in mind.

Did you set your country?

# uci set wireless.radio0.country=XX
# uci set wireless.radio1.country=XX
# uci commit wireless
# wifi

List of countries:

Channels 52 and higher are controlled by DFS so you do not interfere with radar installations.
Is it possible to give some more details. I have an archer c7. I have never moved it to Gargoyle (previously had a 3700) so put it on this version and I noticed the channels in 2.4 were far to high 36+ and 5ghz was blank.

I am based in the UK

so I ran

# uci set wireless.radio0.country=GB
# uci set wireless.radio1.country=GB
# uci commit wireless
# wifi

It came up with an error on radio 1 when I did wifi. and the channels still didn't show correctly.

I then moved it to 1.8.1 and it is all fine but anyone able to explain what I need todo for 1.9.x?
Netgear wndr3700 v2 Gargoyle 1.8.0
TP-Link Archer C7 v2 1.10.X (Built 20180122-0707)
