A few questions about Bandwidth Usage Data:

Post by DullRazr »

I recently purchased the Gargoyle router so I could monitor data usage for all of the clients on my home network. Right now I only need hourly data but the router stores data for each client down to the minute even though the “Save High Resolution 15 Minute Timeframe Data For All Hosts “ is not checked. I have noticed that about a day and a half after I clear the data, any hourly data (and I presume any interval below that) older than a day and a half “disappears” and all that is left is the daily/monthly summary for each client. I’m guessing that the older, finer detail data is overwritten in order to store newer data.
My questions:
1. Is there any way to have the router store only the hourly data?
2. Is there any way to store the data in some place other than the router (on a connected PC hard drive or a flash drive inserted into the router)?
3. Is there any way to automatically download the data from router on a schedule?

Gargoyle Version: 1.6.2
Model:D-Link DIR-835 rev. A1
Device Configuration: Gateway
Memory Usage: 18.3MB / 123.7MB (14.8%)

You could try the email notifications plugin to download your data regularly.
I don't have answers to your other questions though.

Thanks. I'm a little new to the community. Where can I get the plug-in and how do I install it?

Go to System->Plugins. Click refresh plugins down the bottom. Then find email notifications plugin and click install.

OK, refreshed the plug-ins but don't see an e-mail plug-in.

The listed plug-in sources are:
gargoyle

And

attitude_adjustment
http://downloads.openwrt.org/attitude_a ... c/packages

Do I need to add another source?

Ahh, that plugin may not be available for the 1.6.X versions.
You may look to upgrade to 1.7.2. It is part of the "experimental" branch but there have been many happy reports of stable use.

If you do upgrade make sure to not preserve settings.
