3G (GSM) Option missing on 1.7.0

Post by nworbnhoj »

I loaded Gargoyle 1.7.0 onto a TP-Link TL-WR1043N/ND v2 successfully.

However, when configured as a Gateway, the Internet/WAN interface does not offer a 3G (GSM) option despite a Huawei E160E modem being plugged into the USB port. The modem has power and the status light indicates that a 3G signal is available.

logread after plugging the modem ........

Yes, I have been running with Gargoyle 1.6.2 on TP-Link TL-WR1043N/ND v2 with the Huawei E160E modem since 1.6.2 became available (and now).

On one of my Gargoyle 1.7.0 installs, I loaded a config backup from 1.6.2 and the 3G connection worked (but there were other problems). So, I suspect that it is a problem with the 1.7.0 interface (not offering the 3G option), rather than 1.7.0 not supporting 3G or the modem.???

For me, unfortunately, trick with loading the configuration did not work.
In version 1.6.2 everything worked without a problem.
My hardware - tl-WR1043ND v1.8 + Huawei e3372 hilink

And here is the log after connecting the modem

BEWARE:
Eric wrote:Version 1.7.0, based on OpenWRT Barrier Breaker is now officially released.

Do NOT try to preserve settings between previous releases and 1.7.0 -- The new configuration files for Barrier Breaker are different than previous versions of OpenWRT and you will likely brick your router!
Not a good idea to load a config from 1.6.2.

I did so, with-out thinking (and got away with it), but I also learnt something about this problem, so I reported it in this forum.
