do you have access to any devices that have more than 4MB of flash? i believe this is the reason that it works fine for you under 1.6.2 but not on any of the 1.7.X versions. 1.7 seems to barely squeeze onto these small devices and a lot of people have been reporting "strange" behaviour. I...

Sorry it is coreutils (with lower case c) not Coreutils.
Also the problem appears only after rebooting the router.Removing the package is not possible after rebooting.

what version? Have you tied this version? http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7142 Try a OpenWrt Failsafe reset http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/generic.failsafe I tested it on 1.7.0 and 1.7.1 I reset to default but after this package installation again the problem appears.
