Thanks for that. I was hoping it was something simple in the Gargoyle setup, but I am now in communication with my ISP, and have a techy mate coming round sometime to see what he can do hardware-wise
Fingers crossed!

Re: DHCP serving wrong DNS servers
Cheers Mix
As I said, I was hesitant to play around with the delicate workings of the modem, but I do see a radio box to enable/disable the NAT there (above).
So if I disable that, it might help?
FYI, it's an IPStar terminal, ICON Series IPX-3200.

Quotas, DNS, Gateway not working
Where's the "Gargoyle for Dummies" section? I seem to have several problems, and maybe they're all connected. 1) DNS lookup failures unless I manually set DNS on PC. 2) Quotas are not being counted and/or displayed. 3) No internet unless default gateway is set on PC to modem's IP. Here 'ti...

Re: MAC/IP binding (WR841N)
So then type in the mac addresses of the wireless devices, the ip addresses you want assigned, and click save. Don't know how it can be anymore straight forward. Yes, I'm not a complete moron thank you. It's just that the DHCP page doesn't exactly make it clear what the function of the static IPs i...

Re: DHCP serving wrong DNS servers
All I know is that if I don't have the gateway (in TCP/IP) set to the modem's IP (192.168.5.100) the internet doesn't work. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that it's not your generic consumer modem, being of a proprietary type for a satellite connection. It has a fixed ethernet IP, and I ...

Re: DHCP serving wrong DNS servers
This is the expected behavior. and that would be fine if it worked. Without setting my DNS servers manually, my browser tells me DNS lookup failed. I also have to manually set the default gateway to the modem's IP. If I leave it to Gargoyle, it uses it's own IP and I lose internet again. I'm hesita...

Re: DHCP serving wrong DNS servers
I think my problem is somewhat relevant to this topic. I also can't get the DHCP (WR841N v7.2, 1.5.4) to supply the desired DNS servers. I have them added as custom servers in basic.sh, /tmp/resolv.conf.auto says they are there, but a wireless connection still gets given only the router IP as DNS (a...

Re: WR841N bricked? I didn't do it!
To be honest, I was willing to try anything, when I tried 30/30/30! Thanks a lot Mix - she's running again. I think I had tried failsafe before, but didn't think it had worked. Turned out I must have had a dodgy telnet app (I used ExtraPutty as I'd had no end of trouble getting to the page for the o...

WR841N bricked? I didn't do it!
I was trying to sort out the DHCP on my 841 v7.2 running 1.5.4. A laptop on wireless wasn't getting the right DNS, though they were set as custom on the router LAN page. Anyway, I think I fiddled with the WAN setting (can't recall exactly what I changed) and power cycled the router. At that point I ...

MAC/IP binding (WR841N)
Is this the same as Address Reservation? The closest thing to this that I can see on my Gargoyle is the Static IP section under DHCP, but this doesn't really seem to be a binding option is it? I'd like wireless devices to be assigned certain IPs according to their MAC so they can be included in spec...
