Ok, I'll give a shot tomorrow and update the forum once complete. It is very strange as I've not run into this one before after 4-5 years with Gargoyle.Lantis wrote:I think you have to do "firstboot -y" these days but yes essentially

Ok, just to confirm, that's the following?Lantis wrote:It sounds like you need to do a failsafe reset and start again
type ssh root@192.168.1.1
provide your password
at the Gargoyle prompt type firstboot
wait until the command prompt returns
power cycle the router.

Re: gargoyle-ispy 2017-January-12 02:59.torrent
Does your WAN uptime (not router uptime) reset every time the figure resets itself? Unsure, the Overview page has the Router Uptime but not the WAN Uptime listed. Is there a way through telnet to determine the WAN uptime? And another bug, if I go to the firewall QoS download page I don't get anythi...

Re: gargoyle-ispy 2017-January-12 02:59.torrent
I do like the interface but have run into a strange bug. It's been in the last three releases (at least) and I have found a reference to the same defect going back to 2015 ( https://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=6852&p=27879&hilit=3200#p27879 ). I have QoS (Download)...

Re: strange qos bandwidth reset
strangely enough, a year after this post, I'm getting the same result. I'm not sure it's due to heavy load but every day my router resets to 3200 as well, so it appears to still be a bug.

Re: Custom DNS
I should report back...my fault. I have installed Avast Internet Security and unknown to me it has a secure DNS, so everything was re-directed. Once I turned it off, all works ok.
Doh!

Custom DNS
One question and one "bug". I think I may have a problem with custom DNS settings. I've set custom DNS setting to SafeDNS (195.46.39.39, 195.46.39.40) but it does not seem to work. No blocking occurs. My clients are indicating that they are using 192.168.1.1 DNS (i.e., the routers). Any id...

Re: QoS Slowdown
Thanks for the info on the router. In the process of adjusting my rules as well I think I have buggered them up and for the life or me I can't find the default values. Can someone please provide them? I've attached mine for information. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3521154/Gargoyle%20Router%2...

Re: QoS Slowdown
Out of curiosity, what's the fastest router that Gargoyle runs on? The 4300 has a 560MHz chip, which is close to the top for Atheros chips. Is there anything else faster?

Re: QoS Slowdown
Still investigating but one curious behaviour. I changed the rules and rebooted. I then ran speedtest.net. The very first time I ran it (with no one else on the network) I got like 80Mbps!!! The second and subsequent times I ran it I got 40Mbps. Not sure exactly what was causing the problem there???...
